If you’d like to do some baking this Easter, why not join in with the Macmillian Big Easter Bake on Friday 11th April! It’s a great way to practice your Easter cupcakes for ‘Eggscellent Easter Chocolate’ on Sunday 12th April, and you’ll be raising money for a great cause too! We spoke to Carly from Macmillan Cancer Research about how we can all get involved.
“The reason I am supporting Macmillan is because every day in West Yorkshire, 30 people are told the devastating news they have cancer. Macmillan Cancer Support provides essential emotional, financial and medical support, but they are funded almost completely by donations so they can’t do it without help! Every penny raised through taking part in The Big Easter Bake will make a massive difference.
It’s very easy to take part; all you need to do is sign up for a fundraising pack by emailing me at email@example.com with your contact details. You’ll receive a welcome letter, a blank poster so that you can advertise your event, balloons and a donation box. All you need to do is bake some goodies in return for a donation! This can be done anywhere; schools, colleges, workplaces, or even at home with friends, family and neighbours.
The event will also have a slightly competitive edge. There will be four categories which people can enter into; traditional, original, chocolate and under 11’s, and entrants will be requested to submit photographs of their items to one of these. The photographs will be uploaded to the Macmillan West Yorkshire Facebook page and the one with the most ‘likes’ in each category will win a prize. The prizes for the first three categories include a £30 M&S gift card, 2 tickets to the West Yorkshire Playhouse and an annual Tastecard membership!”
If you’re more of an eater than a baker, Carly will be holding her very own Big Easter Bake on Friday 11th April in The Light, Leeds City Centre, from 11am. She will be selling lots of cakes, Macmillan merchandise and will also be holding a tombola. Come along and join in the fun!
