Cocktails! Definitely the most popular theme yet, our first full sell out! The judges were treated to a delicious selection of 15 boozey cupcakes made by our increasingly creative bakers
The competition was full of coconuts, cocktail glasses, zebra striped cake stands, plastic swords, pineapples and little umbrellas! Some extremely imaginative entries, and a lot of thought into presentation. Top marks for all the bakers who entered!
In the goodie bag there was a £99 beginners cupcake class kindly donated from our sponsor’s Posh & Swanky Cupcake classes, a Macaroon tin from our sponsors Gourmet Kitchenware, and a couple more cupcake themed goodies.

Laura came 1st place with her Strawberry Daiquiri cupcakes. These cupcakes were a vibrant red strawberry sponge topped with strawberry and lemon icing, some sprinkles and a jelly strawberry on top along with the token cocktail straw. Delicious, a worthy winner!

Steph made little shot glasses full of pieces of her Bellini cupcakes. The sponge was peach flavoured with a champagne whipped cream frosting, topped with gold fizz glitter, little flowers, a small slice of peach and a cocktail umbrella!

What a cracking entry, James’s 3rd place entries were rum flavoured sponge with pineapple and cranberries, topped with coconut frosting, and cocktail straw, umbrella and little coconut!

Jo made a delicious ginger sponge with lime and vodka, topped with a lime and vodka icing, straw, umbrella in a cocktail glass!

Roshni’s cupcakes were a “yellow cake” sponge injected with Triple Sec strawberry puree, topped with a strawberry and lime swirl and a tequila Jelly Bean, not to mention the cocktail decoration and glass! Her individual mini cupcakes were topped with plastic swords!
My favourite entry of the night was Ronda’s Jaegerbombs. These were a red velvet chocolate sponge infused with Jaegermeister silled with a gooey ganache topped with Redbull frosting, and a handmade chocolate cup.

Frances created these lime and rum flavoured cakes topped with rum, mint and lime icing, finished with a lime wedge and mint garnish!

Fay created these banana sponge cupcakes with a rum infused strawberry filling, topped with a banana and strawberry swirl.

My mums cupcakes were coconut flavoured, with a Malibu, rum and coffee buttercream, finished with straws and a cocktail cherry!
Lottes cupcakes were ginger sponge infused with tequila and filled with lime, topped with a Creme de Cassis laced buttercream, a wedges of lime.
Em’s cupcakes were a rum and mint sponge with lime and mint swirl topped with a wedge of lime and a mint sprig

Charlotte’s Cosmopolitans were a bright red cranberry flavoured sponge with a zesty lime frosting and an umbrella!
